Chapter Twelve

Menace got upon his feet just as the gunfire rang aloud. He looked over his shoulder in the direction that Shatira had ran, and then back at his father, who was blazing at Levon as he fled. At first, he didn’t know whose aid he should come to. But after hearing the report of his own gun several more times, he figured Shatira had finished off Delores, and he should go help his father. Having made up his mind, Menace chased down his father. He’d gotten halfway into the woods to find Fonzell trying to reload his gun. Fonzell had tucked his gun under his arm and went to pull out the extra magazine from out of his pocket. Moving too fast, he fucked around and dropped the magazine to the ground. Seeing that Levon was getting away, Menace snatched up his father’s magazine and took his gun from him. Fast and expertly, he smacked the magazine into the bottom of the handgun and cocked that shit back. He then chased Levon a short way through the woods, watching him zig zag between trees. Menace pointed his gun and cracked off three shots, missing Levon. Gripping his gun with both hands and aiming it carefully, he pulled the trigger. The bullet ripped through the air. Levon’s head snapped to the right and blood sprayed from the side of his dome. He crashed to the ground shortly thereafter. Having seen him go down, Menace tucked his gun and recovered Levon’s dead body. He dragged his kill back into the direction that he came from.
